Artisan H – entrepreneur Carol Ainscow’s development company – is planning to redevelop the former Manchester HQ of the Daily Express on Great Ancoats Street as a 20,438 sq m (220,000 sq ft) mixed-use scheme.
Proposals for the landmark building comprise retail, residential and a ‘new media’ centre with an ‘incubation unit’ for start-up businesses in the sector.
Ainscow – who made her name with a string of pioneering leisure and residential schemes in the city’s Canal Street district – is now awaiting final council consent for her plans.
