Take-up for Manchester offices reached 775,000 sq ft in the second quarter of 2015, according to the Manchester Office Agents Forum.
The figure mirrored that seen in Q1, meaning more than 1.5m sq ft of space has been transacted in the first half of the year.
David Thwaites, associate at Bilfinger GVA and chairman of MOAF, stated: “The half-year total of 678,677 sq ft is again the largest of any city within the regions, outperforming Birmingham’s 645,000 sq ft which was heavily skewed by a single deal of 210,000 sq ft.
“With the next phase of development well under way and a number of sizeable requirements still to be satisfied, the record take-up from 2014 of 1.3m sq ft may only last a year.”
Manchester city centre recorded approximately 360,000 sq ft of transactions in Q2, 40,000 sq ft more than in Q1.
Standout deals included Freshfields acquiring 43,000 sq ft in Arndale House and TalkTalk’s relocation of 106,000 sq ft to The Soapworks at Salford Quays, the largest deal in Greater Manchester of the year so far.
