Manchester renaissance 10 years on from bomb

The Guardian’s Society supplement describes how a “stunning and unexpected urban renaissance” emerged from the rubble of the IRA bomb that left the centre of Manchester devastated on June 15 ten years ago.

It says the city has been reborn with a completely remodelled centre with new squares, streets, shops, offices, flats and much more.

The bomb caused damage estimated at about £1bn. The subsequent rebuilding is put at “well over £2bn to £3bn”.
