Manchester school to swap land for buildings

A crumbling Manchester school which the local council cannotafford to replace is to capitalise on the value of the 16.18ha (40 acre) school site and seek a deal with a private developer.

Governors of Parrs Wood high school in south Manchester planto swap half the extensive campus for new buildings which wouldcost them nothing. It is believed to be the first transaction ofits kind in the country.
