The Treasury will put £200m towards an innovation hub for the discovery of new materials to be developed in Manchester.
The hub will be based in a new building in Manchester but will operate on a hub and spoke basis with researchers across the UK, along the lines of London’s Francis Crick Institute for biomedical science.
