Manchester URC seeks West Gorton developer

Urban regeneration company New East Manchester is searching for a development partner to regenerate the West Gorton area of the city.

The URC is looking for a developer or consortium to create a masterplan aimed at transforming a 128-acre site in West Gortom, which is around 1.5 miles from Manchester city centre.

The area is currently mainly residential and industrial and suffers from high levels of deprivation.

Tom Russell, chief executive of New East Manchester, said: “We’re seeking a company or consortium that has drive and ambition, with a flair for making things happen and a track record of working with local people to deliver high quality, sustainable, innovative and yet practical mixed use development projects.”

The deadline for submissions is 3rd March.

The URC is partnership between Manchester City Council, English Partnerships and the Northwest Regional Development Agency
