Manchester’s Windmill Green loses first tenant

Manchester’s Windmill Green, the 78,000 sq ft office development, has lost its first occupier, with co-working operator Our Space pulling out of the building.

The flexible office provider agreed to take 13,600 sq ft on the ground and first floors of the Fore Partnership development earlier this year.

However, it is understood the operator, which has offices in Spain and Dubai, has decided to put its plans to expand into the UK – with offices in Manchester and Leeds – on hold.

At the time, Fore Partnership said Our Space, which focuses on wellbeing and calls itself the “first global co-working community to connect humans with nature”, would be a “perfect fit” for the development.

Our Space’s withdrawal could be an opportunity for Windmill Green and its lettings agents Knight Frank and Lambert Smith Hampton to target occupiers willing to take a larger chunk of space.

A number of occupiers are understood to have considered space in the building but turned it down due to not having access to the ground and first floors.

The 78,000 sq ft building is being pitched as “an innovative and collaborative workspace, designed to energise and inspire”. It is due to open next summer.

A rooftop terrace with views over the city will include an apiary, a cycle hub and living walls.
