Property management firm Mapp has reopened its offices in London and several regional cities as the UK’s coronavirus lockdown restrictions are eased.
Founder Nigel Mapp expects roughly 5% of the company’s 250-strong office-based workforce to return this week. Eight of the London office’s 140 staff have come to the office today, he told EG, with two expected in each of the company’s offices in Bristol, Birmingham and Manchester.
The company’s Glasgow office, in a Regus property, will not reopen, and its sole member of staff there will continue to work from home. Mapp is now eyeing an opening in Edinburgh or elsewhere in Glasgow to serve the Scottish market.
Mapp employees have been reminded to maintain distancing in the workplace and avoid close contact with colleagues, with one-way systems in place in London and Manchester. Staff members who can continue to work from home have been asked to do so.
Several big property agencies have started phased reopenings of offices during the past week, including Colliers, CBRE, JLL and Savills.
