Marcol Group sells historic Midtown site for £20m

Staple Inn buildings, WC1 one of Midtown’s most historic estates has been sold by the Marcol Group for £20m, a sub-6% yield.

The 43,000 sq ft estate dating back to 1290 and facing Chancery Lane Tube station was sold to a private UK client of Mellersh & Harding.

Shops make up 11% of the complex, with the rest used as offices.

Marcol acquired the 0.8-acre site in 2003 through its takeover of Compco Holdings, which had bought it in 2001 from Prudential.

The insurer bought it at auction in 1886 for £68,000.

Farebrother and Michael Elliott advised Marcol.
