Housebuilders were among the best performing stocks in the FTSE 100 on Monday, accounting for four of the session’s 10 biggest rises.
Berkeley Group Holdings was the day’s sixth sharpest rise, up by 3.2% to 3,848p per share. Just behind it were Barratt Developments, Persimmon and Taylor Wimpey, all of which rose by between 2.7% and 3%. Despite the gains, all four remain sharply below their value at the start of the year.
Construction News reported today that a £4bn cladding remediation funded by housebuilders has been dropped – for now – from negotiations between the industry and government.
In the FTSE 250, Redrow, Vistry and Crest Nicholson were all trading up.
The FTSE 100 finished the session up by 0.3% at 7,558, while the FTSE 250 stood at 21,329, a rise of 0.5%.
