Market wrap: British Land and Hammerson among FTSE leaders

British Land and Hammerson were two of the top risers among London’s largest listed companies today.

British Land’s shares finished the session at 527.2p, their second-best closing price in more than a year. The stock’s rise of almost 3.4% made the REIT one of the FTSE 100’s biggest risers.

In the FTSE 250, Hammerson made the top table, up by 4.8% at 39.78p.

Globalworth Real Estate Investments was flat as it said a €1.6bn (£1.4bn) takeover bid from two of its existing investors undervalues the business. At €7.35, its stock price is just above the offer of €7 a share.

The FTSE 100 closed up 0.4% at 6,963 points. The FTSE 250 closed up 0.9% at 22,577 points.
