Market wrap: British Land leads FTSE 100 on analyst upgrade

British Land and Landsec were the top risers on the FTSE 100 today, after analysts at JP Morgan highlighted signs of recovery in retail property.

JP Morgan upgraded both landlords to “overweight” earlier today, driving a 4.7% rise in British Land’s share price to 516.8p. Landsec posted a 3.2% uplift to 699.2p.

Notable real estate risers on the stock exchange also included German investor Sirius Real Estate, up 7.2% at 113.2p, serviced office provider IWG, rising 4.3% to 304.4p, and Restaurant Group, up 5.4% at 129p.

The FTSE 100 closed up 0.4% at 7,090 points. The FTSE 250 was up by nearly 1% at 22,679.
