Market wrap: Civitas falls by 5%

Shares in Civitas Social Housing REIT fell by 5% today after a scathing attack from short-seller ShadowFall.

ShadowFall yesterday (22 September) wrote to Civitas chair Michael Wrobel claiming the company failed to disclose detail on deals and questioning partnerships and viability.

The REIT has refuted the claims, branding the accusations “inaccurate”, “incorrect” and “erroneous”. It ended the day at 90.6p.

In a mixed day for real estate, Capital & Regional led rises with a 5.1% jump to 63.6p.

Further drops were seen from Harworth, down by 3.8%, and Birmingham-based Real Estate Investors, which dropped by 3.7%, backtracking on gains from positive results earlier this week.

The FTSE 100 dipped by 0.1% to 7,078 points, while the FTSE 250 rose by 0.2% to 23,830 points.
