Landlords in the FTSE 100 enjoyed an uplift today, as the index nudged up by 0.8% on the first day of trading in June.
Landsec was up 1.3% at 712.6p, while British Land edged up by 0.6% to finish the session at 512.8p. FTSE 100 peer SEGRO traded up 0.7%, at 1,050p.
Outside of the index, the day’s biggest real estate riser was NewRiver REIT. The FTSE All-Share landlord’s share price jumped by nearly 4% at 102p.
Fellow All-Share firm Ediston Property Investment posted the largest decline out of the UK’s REITs, losing 2% at 67.6p.
FTSE 250 landlord Hammerson, which is launching a €575m (£496m) bond buyback, fell 1.5% at 39.4p.
The FTSE 100 ended the day at 7,080 points. The FTSE 250 also rose by 0.8%, at 22,874.
