Market wrap: Housebuilders rise while Savills falls back

Housebuilders Taylor Wimpey and Countryside Properties were among the top risers on the stock exchange today.

Shares in Taylor Wimpey climbed by 1.9% to 175.1p, while Countryside was up by 3.5% at 538p.

Savills was among the biggest fallers on the FTSE 350 index, with shares down by 4% at 1,200p.

The agent previously rose to a high of 1,250p yesterday – its best performance since February 2020 – on the back of an upbeat trading update.

Sports Direct owner Frasers Group joined the firm as one of the index’s worst performers of the day, falling by 4.3% to 587p.

The FTSE 100 closed largely flat at 7,122 points, while the FTSE 250 was down by 0.2% at 23,456.
