Market wrap: Landsec edges higher despite losses

Shares in Landsec nudged up slightly on Tuesday, despite reporting its biggest annual loss since the global financial crisis 12 years ago.

Landsec’s share price slipped in the hours following its trading update but recovered during the day, ultimately inching up by 0.6% to 719.2p.

Chief executive Mark Allan’s plans for the REIT’s recovery includes channelling the proceeds from its £4bn disposal programme into prime shopping centre acquisitions.

Other companies issuing market updates today included South East offices investor McKay Securities, which fell slightly by 0.4% to 230p. Its portfolio value dropped by nearly 12% over the past year.

The FTSE 100 ended the day broadly flat at 7,034 points, while the FTSE 250 was up by 0.5% at 22,332.
