Market wrap: NewRiver boost takes stock to Covid high

NewRiver REIT was among the day’s leading property risers, finishing trading at its highest share price since before the UK entered its first lockdown back in March.

In the company’s half-year results last month, chief executive Allan Lockhart hailed a “resilient” operational performance and upgraded its outlook. Since then the shares have risen by about 14%. Today’s 4.6% boost took the stock to 90.8p, its highest closing price since mid-March.

Among the day’s fallers was Yew Grove REIT, which lost 4.07% to close at 0.83p, a three-month low.

The FTSE 100 ended the day down by 0.3% at 6,551 points. The FTSE 250 stood at 20,296, a rise of roughly 1%.
