Retail real estate owners NewRiver REIT, Hammerson and intu all saw double-digit share price growth today as the countdown continues to a full reopening of the UK’s retail sector on 15 June.
NewRiver REIT’s share price rose by a quarter to 79p per share, the biggest rise of any REIT in the session and taking shares to their highest value since the UK’s lockdown began.
Shares in Hammerson rose by almost a quarter to 137.75p, the second-sharpest increase for any FTSE 250 stock. Intu was up by 15% at 9.9p. Both companies’ shares are now at their highest value since before lockdown.
Whitbread was also among the biggest risers in the FTSE 100, its share price increasing by 7.2% to 2,651p.
The FTSE 100 closed up 2.61 up at 6,382, while the FTSE 250 also rose by 2.6%, to 17,897.
