Shares in NewRiver REIT rose by 2.7% today, after it agreed to sell its Hawthorn community pubs portfolio to rival Admiral Taverns for around £222.3m.
The REIT ended the day at nearly 89.3p. Its 674 pubs are set to merge with Admiral’s 1,000-pub business, with NewRiver now seeking to channel its focus on its retail and regeneration assets.
Cineworld was the FTSE 250’s top riser, climbing by 5.4% to 66.8p. The cinema chain is facing a £1m legal challenge over claims it had missed rent payments since last March.
Other notable real estate risers on the stock exchange included BMO, which was up by 3.2% at 76.8p after posting an 84% rent collection rate.
Schroder European REIT inched up by 0.5% to 102p, after collecting 94% of quarterly rent due.
The FTSE 100 finished the session flat at 7,025 points, while the FTSE 250 inched up by 0.2% at 22,933.
