Blue chip property companies’ shares wobbled today, amid growing concern that the UK may have to reimpose certain Covid-19 restrictions over the winter.
British Land shares fell 2% to 507p and Landsec fell 1.8% to 683p, on an otherwise flat day for the FTSE 100.
Housebuilders also had an unsteady session, with most falling on a day when housing secretary Robert Jenrick was sacked amid a cabinet reshuffle.
Jenrick, who has been replaced by Michael Gove, tweeted the news at 2.29pm this afternoon:
It’s been a huge privilege to serve as Secretary of State @mhclg. Thank you to everyone at the department for their hard work, dedication and friendship. I’m deeply proud of all we achieved.
I will continue to support the Prime Minister and the Government in every way I can.

Countryside and Crest Nicholson both fell 2.1% to 508p and 393p respectively, while Bellway, Barratt Developments, Berkeley Group, Taylor Wimpey and Vistry also lost value.
The FTSE 100 finished 0.1% down at 7,030 points, while the FTSE 250 fell 1.1% to 23,433 points for the day.
