Community shopping centre landlords Capital & Regional and NewRiver REIT were among the day’s real estate winners, while London stocks ended the session in negative territory.
CapReg was up nearly 6% at 37.3p, while NewRiver climbed 2.4% to 63p.
Other notable share price rises included Picton Property Income, up 1.7% at 61.4p, and self-storage provider Big Yellow Group, up 1.6% at 1,139p.
In the FTSE 250, Frasers Group posted the biggest share price increase on the back of reports that its billionaire owner Mike Ashley is considering a bid for rival Philip Day’s Jaegar, Austin Reed and Jacques Vert brands.
The retail group’s share price rose 4.6% to 392.2p.
The FTSE 100 dropped 1.2% to 5,792.01, while the FTSE 250 finished the day down 1.4% at 17,853.3.
