Market wrap: SEGRO’s shares drop as Hammerson makes gains

SEGRO was the biggest property faller on the FTSE 100 today, after shares nudged down 1.93% to 955p.

The company was joined in trading downwards by Derwent London, which was down 1.35% to 2,924p after it posted losses for the first half of the year.

Earlier today, Derwent also announced that Simon Silver, its co-founder and executive director, is planning to step down from his post in February next year.

In contrast, Hammerson’s shares enjoyed the biggest boost among the REITs today, finishing the day up 8.06% at 55.48p.

The landlord’s share prices have begun a relative rally after a week of falls on its emergency rights issue.

The FTSE 100 ended the session up 1.72%, at 6,154.34. The FTSE 250 was up 1.54%, at 17,997.18.
