Market wrap: St Modwen shares slump on H1 loss

St Modwen was one of the biggest fallers in the property sector today after reporting a £134.5m loss for the first half of 2020. Its share price fell by 6.9% to 330p.

Schroder Real Estate Investment Trust, which announced this week that fund manager Duncan Owen is stepping down from his role as Schroders’ head of real estate, also had a bad day, with a 6.75% fall to 33.85p.

In the FTSE 100, Persimmon crept into the top risers with a 2.10% rise to 2,580p, while Whitbread slid into the top fallers. Its share price sank by 4.14% to 2,267p.

The FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 nudged down by 1% to 6,207 points and 0.21% to 17,465, respectively.
