Market wrap: West End landlords rise on good day for property shares

London landlords’ shares rose today amid further optimism around the Covid-19 pandemic receding.

Capital & Counties and Shaftesbury, which both own vast West End estates, rose 2.8% to 178.4p and 1.6% to 630.5p, respectively.

Meanwhile, FTSE100 REITs British Land and Landsec rose 2.1% to 528.8p and 1.3% to 721.8p.

CLS Holdings’ shares were stable after it said it is “hopeful” for improvements in the second half of the year, after reporting a 21% slump in profit. Its shares nudged up 0.2% to 255p at the close.

The FTSE 100 was up 0.8% at 7,220 points, while the FTSE 250 rose 0.8% to 23,756 points.
