Craig Marks and Brian Craig plan to develop an £80m real-snow indoor ski slope called Snow Mountain at Parkwood Springs, in the Upper Don Valley, Sheffield, which will be Europe’s largest.
They have submitted plans to Sheffield City Council and they have also bought a separate 16.99ha (42 acre) site elsewhere in the valley that Union Carbide used to occupy, where they plan a big regeneration scheme with hundreds of houses and new office space.
The partners were the developers behind Milton Keynes’ Xscape ski centre and another at Castleford, Leeds, which they sold to Capital & Regional and which X-Leisure operates.
Work has already begun on a new Xscape at Braehead, near Glasgow and there are plans for another snow dome near Motherwell.
