A planning application for a new 140,000 sq ft Marks & Spencer store in Wolstanton Retail Park, Newcastle-under-Lyme, was submitted today.
The application, for the northern section of the retail park owned by McLagan Investments, represents a £40m investment for build and fit-out. The new store would provide the area with a full-line M&S offer, including clothing, home, gifts, food and hospitality.
Clem Constantine, M&S property director, said: ‘This is an exciting proposal and represents a significant investment in the region. The store would be in addition to our existing Hanley town centre store. We estimate that it will create around 250 new jobs as well as an additional 100 jobs in the construction phase.”
CB Richard Ellis advised Marks & Spencer; Marsh & Baxter is development manager for McLagan Investments; RPS is the project’s architect.
