Marriott is to open its first UK Residence Inn hotel at Gladedale Capital’s £450m Quartermile development in Edinburgh.
The 107-bedroom hotel will open in late summer.
The Residence Inns brand is targeted at longer stays and typically offers a range of suites and apartments with office areas, kitchens and meeting rooms.
Paul Curran, Gladedale Capital’s managing director, said: “The Edinburgh hotel market is the top performing in the UK, outside London, with current rates of occupancy upwards of 80 per cent, so it is the perfect platform for Marriott to launch its Residence Inn brand in the UK.”
Amy McPherson, president and managing director for Marriott International in Europe, said: “We are thrilled to announce our first Residence Inn in the United Kingdom here in Edinburgh and see great potential for further development of the brand throughout Europe.”
There are more than 600 Residence Inns worldwide.
