Marston’s turns developer for first time

Marstons-Brewery-sign-generic-THUMB.jpegMarston’s is to develop its own pub for the first time, along with a drive-thru Costa Coffee and a KFC, near Kilwinning, North Ayrshire.

The company has also secured planning permission for a hotel and a parade of shops next to the Pennyburn roundabout.

Marston’s signed up for the five-acre site last year and decided to develop the scheme itself when the intended developer, Thornhill Securities Limited, went into receivership.

The overall gross development cost of the site is in the region of £10m.

Adrian Blackburn, Marston’s acquisitions manager for Scotland, said: “We see Pennyburn as a  key turning point in our strategic development programme in western Scotland, and it’s a little known fact that in specific circumstances the Marston’s professional team have the skills and necessary experience to undertake these types of projects.”
