Masterplan for London’s Olympic Park

The London Development Agency has assembled 70% of the 500-acre site needed to host the 2012 Olympic Games.

It was felt that more than 50% of the site would have to be owned or have option agreements in place for a bid to be seen as viable by the International Olympic Committee.

London 2012, the committee leading the bid, this week unveiled its vision for the site, which is currently dominated by industrial and commercial uses. The centrepiece of the committee’s plans is an 80,000-seat stadium designed by Foreign Office Architects. Olympic Park will also house an aquatic centre, a velodrome, an indoor sports arena and training facilities and the Olympic village.

EDAW drew up the masterplan for Olympic Park. CBRE is providing land acquisition and relocation advice.
