Masterplan unveiled for Glasgow’s Speirs Locks

Speirs Locks

Glasgow Canal Regeneration Partnership (GCRP) has unveiled a masterplan for the £100m regeneration of the city’s Speirs Locks.

The scheme, which is a joint venture between developer ISIS, British Waterways and Glasgow city council, will include around 100,000 sq ft of offices, 250 homes and a mix of commercial and leisure space.

The 30-acre development alongside the Forth & Clyde canal will also include a walking route between the site, in the north of the city, and the city centre.

The masterplan is designed by Ken Shuttleworth’s Make Architects, landscape designer Rankin Fraser, artists KOAN3 and regeneration consultancy Kevin Murray Associates.

A ten-month public consultation on the scheme is now complete and the masterplan is expected to be submitted to Glasgow city council later in the summer.

GCRP has already delivered the £6.2m regeneration of the canal between Speirs Wharf and Pinkston Basin in Port Dundas.
