Matalan snaps up property director from Gymshark

Value retailer Matalan has named Gymshark’s James Dorling as property director. In his new role, Dorling will oversee Matalan’s network of more than 220 UK stores. He brings more than two decades of experience in property management and leadership having also held senior roles at Wilko, Walgreens and Walmart following a 10-year career in property at Tesco. Matalan is investing in its store network and exploring opportunities to expand its UK estate, with a new store opening in Hereford later this month. Karl-Heinz Holland, Matalan’s executive chair, said Dorling’s “expertise, experience and industry connections will prove highly valuable as we continue to execute our strategic plan”.
