Matchesfashion strikes out for Shard

The-Shard-SE1Matchesfashion.com is to double the size of its London HQ with new offices in The Shard, SE1.

The luxury online retailer has signed for more than 35,000 sq ft in the UK’s tallest building.

It plans to move out of its existing HQ in Clapham in June and relocate to The Shard, which is owned by developer Irvine Sellar and the State of Qatar, and managed by REM.

Three hundred employees will be based at The Shard on levels seven and eight, where existing occupiers include Tiffany and law firm GM.

Tom Chapman, co-executive chairman of Matchesfashion.com said: “We will see our five London offices come together and strengthen the interconnectivity between departments, from buying to tech, ecommerce and content.

“This inspirational working environment will maximise our unique position as the only true modern luxury shopping destination and continue to attract the best talent.”

Chapman founded Matchesfashion.com with his wife Ruth Chapman in 1987 from a shop in Wimbledon, SW19.

JLL and Knight Frank are leasing agents on The Shard; Making Moves acted for Matchesfashion.com.
