Matter Real Estate gets investment from Madison International Realty and GCM Grosvenor

Matter Real Estate, the pan-European residential real estate investment firm, has entered a new strategic partnership with private equity investor Madison International Realty and a global asset management firm GCM Grosvenor.

Under the agreement, funds managed by Madison and GCM Grosvenor have acquired minority stakes in Matter from existing investor Black Lion. The investments aim to strengthen the firm’s platform and expand its reach to a wider base of global investors.

Ownership of Matter’s management shares remains unchanged. GCM Grosvenor has had a long-standing relationship with Matter, having previously backed several of its European residential ventures. The partnership reflects on the confidence in Matter’s strategy and residential opportunities across Europe.

Alongside its equity investment, Madison will also co-invest with Matter in residential projects across Denmark, Sweden, Germany and the UK. The move aligns with Madison’s strategy of supporting high-growth real estate operating platforms and brings additional investors and expertise in platform investing to the partnership.

David Christie, CEO at Matter Real Estate said: “This partnership reflects the strength of our platform and the trust placed in us by early supporters of the firm, notably Black Lion. This marks an exciting chapter for Matter as we continue to scale our business, unlocking new growth opportunities and delivering our residential strategy across Europe.”
