Alfred McAlpine is to return part of £400m receipts from the sale of its housebuilding division to shareholders.
Wimpey and McAlpine confirmed yesterday they are in final negotiations of a deal which will see the emergence of the UK’s biggest house builder.
Shares in McAlpine soared 15% to 39½p.
