Chief executive James Lancaster said newsagents need to change to cope with the pressure of more supermarket convenience stores such as Tesco Express and Sainsbury’s Local, and sell more basic food items.
Sales rose 5% to £845m in the company’s last financial year, as profits increased 15% to £15.8m.
