McInerney Homes has made two purchases in the West Midlands following the recent opening of a division in Wolverhampton.
The Irish housebuilder, which opened at Pendeford Business Park in March this year, has acquired sites in Redditch, Worcestershire and Bilston in Wolverhampton.
The former Megabowl site at Greenlands Drive, Redditch was bought from Dodd Homes in the first week of June.
Plans for the 2.8-acre site, which has full planning permission, include 89 homes comprising one and two-bedroom flats and a mix of three, four and five-bedroom town houses.
Work will begin in August, with completion scheduled for December 2008.
The other purchase, made in the last week of June, was 0.5-acre site on Alice Street, Bilston, which will be developed into 23 two-storey flats.
Woodbourne Homes sold the site, currently occupied by a pub, with full planning permission. Demolition work will begin in August with completion of the scheme expected at the end of 2007.
Details of the purchases were not disclosed.
Commenting on the Redditch purchase David Griffin, managing director of McInerney Homes West Midlands, said: “We cannot wait for work to start as this is our first venture since the new division was launched.
“The company has been earmarking sites across the region and this one in Redditch fitted the bill perfectly for a McInerney development.
“It could not be a better showcase for our quality of design and build. The market in this area is buoyant and we believe we will attract very strong interest once the development is underway.
McInerney Homes built over 1,800 homes in 2005 and has an annual turnover of more than £250m.
