McLaren to transform Leeds building into 332-bed PBSA

McLaren Property has submitted plans to convert a Grade II listed building in Leeds into a 332-bed purpose-built student accommodation scheme.

The Cartwright Pickard-designed scheme would see Springfield House transformed into student accommodation with amenities such as a gym and wellness area, study spaces and games room. The plans include kitchen and dining spaces, both internally and in private courtyards.

The refurbished Springfield House will be complemented by two new wings which will comprise 138 studios and 194 cluster bedrooms.

McLaren Property’s regional managing director Tom Gilman said: “This Grade II listed building is central to our plans and at the heart of this new and exciting student district, which is in a great location adjacent to the university campus.

“Leeds is a thriving city and we’re pleased to be providing much-needed PBSA, supporting both the universities and the city to retain and develop young talent.

“We continue to identify and deliver opportunities in key university locations where there is a shortage and demand for first-class student accommodation.”
