MEPC secures 180,000 sq ft letting at Glasgow’s Hillingdon Park

MEPC has let 180,000 sq ft at its Hillington Park scheme in Glasgow to packaging and logistics firm Benchmark Promotional Support Services.

The deal is the largest industrial letting concluded in Scotland this year.

The firm is taking 85,000 sq ft on Stephenson Street formerly occupied by IT manufacturer, Inventec.

The company, whose clients include whiskey-maker Edrington Group, has taken a 10-year lease at an undisclosed rent.

However, the final figure was structured incorporating an early surrender penalty from Inventec and is believed to be in the region of £3 per sq ft.

The remainder of the space taken is from units behind this.

Malcolm Pearson, partner with GVA Grimley, who acted for MEPC, said: “This letting underlines the strength of demand at Hillington Park and was made all the easier as the two parties had a flexible approach.”

The Benchmark deal is the sixth letting at the park recently. MEPC has three new buildings currently under construction.

Benchmark will relocate from the former Shanks Sanitaryware works at Barrhead, which it has occupied for 12 years.

Benchmark was not represented in the transaction.
