Liverpool city council has approved plans to turn the vacant Merebank Tower in Sefton Park into apartments.
The former council block will be turned into 78 one-, two- and three-bed apartments, with work beginning before the end of the month.
Fortis Developments bought the block from the Homes and Communities Agency earlier this year, with architects Falconer Chester Hall designing the revamp.
The site, on Greenbank Drive, sits within the Sefton Park conservation area.
