Mesut Ozil’s coffee chain scores its hat trick

39 Steps Coffee Haus, owned by Arsenal footballer Mesut Ozil, has taken over a lease from Carphone Warehouse at 130 Brompton Road, SW3.

The mobile phone retailer has let the Knightsbridge location to the coffee chain by reassigning the existing lease, which expires in October 2024, at a passing rent of £127,500 pa.

The Brompton Road premises, which includes a three-bedroom residential unit above, will be 39 Steps’ third site in London, alongside locations in Soho and at The Roastery in Woolwich.

Colliers International advised Carphone Warehouse. Harper Dennis Hobbs acted for 39 Steps.

Peter Flint, associate director in the central London retail agency team at Colliers International, said: “This deal is a mutually beneficial arrangement for both Carphone Warehouse and 39 Steps.

“While this move feeds into Carphone Warehouse’s wider London portfolio strategy, for 39 Steps the new location is an exciting step for the brand’s growth and development in the capital.”
