The Metropolitan Police Service has secured planning permission for a 52,940 sq ft station in riot-hit Wood Green, north London.
Plans to replace the existing 16,210 sq ft building at 347 Wood Green High Road, N22, with a four-storey property comprising offices and custody areas have been given the green light by Haringey council.
Following objections from local residents to its destruction in 2008, which forced the Met to submit a revised planning application, the Victorian front of the property will be retained.
The building has been vacant for more than a year. Construction of the premises is expected imminently.
