The Metropolitan Police has announced proposals to renew and replace over 60% of its £1.4bn estate in the next five years.
The strategic review includes the Met’s decision to take 10 floors of 15,000-16,000 sq ft (1,394-1,486 sq m) each in the first deal at Land Securities’ 30-storey Empress State flagship scheme, SW6.
A spokesman for the Met’s director of property services said the shake-up could involve a new strategic partnership with the private sector.
The Metropolitan Police estate, comprising over 600 buildings, has suffered from decades of underinvestment.
