Meyer Bergman has submitted a major residential and retail-led planning application on Queensway, W2 including 94 homes, 20,000 sq ft of shops and 8,000 sq ft of restaurant space.
The proposal involves the creation of a new high street along with the Whiteleys shopping centre, situated directly opposite. The Whiteleys site is also owned and is being developed by Meyer Bergman, which received planning consent last year for a £1bn project including 129 homes, 100,000 sq ft of shops and a hotel.
Both schemes have been designed by Foster + Partners. The latest scheme will include an automated basement car park with 86 spaces.
Planning documents say: “Queensway has been in decline over the past 10-15 years and substantial development is required to provide modern retail space to meet the changing needs of both occupiers and consumers.
“The proposed redevelopment of Queensway Parade will complement the redevelopment of Whiteleys shopping centre and provide a significant catalyst for the regeneration of the area. “
Nearby, Bruce Ritchie’s Essential Land completed in 2016 on a major refurbishment of Garden House, Kensington Gardens Square, W2.
Flats range from £995,000 to £2.2m, according to EG’s London Residential Research data. Average price per sq ft values range from £2,306 to £3,466.
