Meyer Homes has submitted an EIA application for a major residential scheme close to Lewisham station, SE13.
Part of a portfolio of 14 sites acquired from Tesco last year, Meyer’s plans envisage a total of 365 new homes, including a 34-storey tower. Residential blocks of nine and 14 storeys with potential for commercial and community uses on parts of the ground floor are also proposed.
If built, the 34-storey tower will become the tallest in Lewisham. The vast Tesco store has four car parks, two of which will make way for Meyer’s plans. The rest of the supermarket’s footprint will remain as is and is not included within Meyer’s land ownership.
James Moody, managing director at Meyer Homes, said: “The regeneration that is currently under way in Lewisham town centre and the connectivity to central London make this a prime site for a residential-led scheme. We have been engaging closely with the London Borough of Lewisham in bringing forward our plans and our recent first public consultation has shown there is real appetite to see the site developed and the public realm improvements this will bring. We are continuing to develop our plans and, further to another public consultation in the new year, we look forward to submitting a detailed planning application in the first half of next year.”
EPR Architects is designing the scheme; NLP is acting as planning consultant.
