MFI gets green light for York retail warehouse scheme

Planners at the new City of York Council are recommending that MFI Properties be granted planning consent for a 10,219sq m (110,000sq ft) non-food retail warehouse scheme on a 5.66ha (14 acre) site off Hull Road, York.

MFI itself intends to take a 2,322sq m (25,000 sq ft) unit on the scheme. A spokesman for project manager Redbourn Group said negotiations were proceeding with “the standard line-up” of out-of-town retailers. Letting agent is Mason Owen.

The site is occupied by an existing MFI and a former Harris Queensway, as well as small industrial units. The site will be cleared and the development will also include 76 houses.

Two weeks ago Richardson Developments bought the Monks Cross retail warehousing site on York’s northern ring road from Bass.
