MFI has announced the closure of 11 of its 195 showrooms, two factories in Scunthorpe and Stockton-on Tees, and three of its eight delivery depots.
The flat-pack furniture retailer has put the 29-strong Sofa Workshop up for sale.
The closure plans pave the way for a break-up of the group.
