M&G picks Savills’ Cheng as resi investment manager

M&G Real Estate has beefed up its residential team, appointing Teresa Cheng as investment manager.

Cheng will focus on student accommodation, build-to-rent and senior living and will fill the gap left by the promotions of Freddie Wonnacott and Chris Jeffs to assistant fund managers for M&G’s UK residential property fund and shared ownership fund respectively.

All three will report to Alex Greaves, head of UK & European living.

Cheng joins from Savills’ corporate finance team, where she gained transactional experience in senior living, student accommodation, co-living, affordable housing and BTR, as well as the office and logistics sectors. Her previous roles have covered co-living investment and asset management in the UK, and financial advisory and private equity in China.

Greaves said Cheng’s experience “will be key to delivering our plans to support a wide range of housing needs”.

He added: “High-quality, sustainable and welcoming homes are something we should all expect – whatever our stage of life. We have proven that committed, long-term institutional capital can be part of the solution to evolving housing challenges and as responsible investors, we can achieve an ideal complement of socially and environmentally conscious, modern homes, while delivering the returns our investors seek.”

M&G Real Estate is part of M&G’s £65bn private assets and alternatives division.
