Mike White quits marketing post at HVB REC

One of German bank HVB’s most senior UK executives has resigned.

Mike White, who was managing director in charge of marketing, stood down after only two and a half years with HVB Real Estate Capital, the bank’s international property lending arm. Previously he was with Royal Bank of Scotland.

White denied that his resignation was a result of Harin Thaker, HVB REC’s finance director, being appointed chief executive of HVB REC – pipping White to the top spot.

“It’s nothing whatsoever to do with Harin’s appointment. I’d been with HVB for two and a half years and done everything I wanted to do there,” he said.

White, who is on gardening leave until the end of August, said he did not have a post lined up but expected to move back in to banking.

“I’ve been in banking for 30 years and property for 10, so it’s the logical move, although I might fancy something on the principal side.”

White’s resignation follows that of Mike Bryant – a senior loan originator in White’s team – who will join GE Capital.

HVB REC chairman Georg Funke said: “We are very sorry to see Mike go. However, we have grown our skill base considerably over the last year or so which, together with the strengths of our longstanding core team, means we are extremely well placed.”
