Millennium Tower gets even bigger

Trafalgar House Properties – now a subsidiary of the Norwegian Kvaerner group – has squeezed an extra 9,290m2 (100,000 sq ft) out of its proposed 435m (1,427 ft) Millennium Tower on the site of the Baltic Exchange, EC3.

Sir Norman Foster has reworked his designs and the planning application lodged this week has a new total floorspace of 148,643m2 net (1.6m sq ft).

The increase has been achieved by raising the height of the tower to 400m (1,300ft). The mast which will top the building has been shortened accordingly. A more efficient internal layout has also created extra office space.

Trafalgar House Properties managing director Alan Winter said that he had been warned to expect a six-month wait before a decision can be made.
