Milton Keynes Council has received planning consent to develop 589 homes at the Serpentine Court and the Lakes Estate in Bletchley.
The scheme from HTA Design is the first regeneration for the former new town and will be developed using modern methods of construction. It comprises 302 affordable homes and a 62-bedroom care home.
In 2018, some 93% of residents voted in favour of the development.
Phase one will see 301 new homes, of which 192 will be affordable for residents of Serpentine Court. It will incorporate mixed-use space, with a new village green connecting the Lakes Estate to a renovated Warren Park.
Caroline Dove, partner at HTA Design, said: “A successful tenant ballot process endorsed and helped shape our vision, and the unanimous approval from councillors further underlines our commitment to delivering a scheme that fully reflects the wants and needs of the community.”
